Map It Help & Support

Tap Start. For better accuracy, enable Precise Location and begin in an open area. Recording continues with the screen locked or another app open. Force-quitting, lost GPS reception or iOS termination can interrupt a route.

Pause stops recording positions and steps. Tap Resume to continue, or hold Finish for two seconds. Finish saves automatically; wait for Saved on this iPhone, then tap Done. If saving fails, use Retry save. Settings remains available while recording or paused.

History shows saved recordings with route previews. Search by title or date, or enable the date filter. Open a recording to add or edit its optional title. Delete recording is available in details; touching and holding a History entry also opens a confirmation. Deletion can sync to other devices. Existing exported files are unchanged.

Route coverage separates manual pauses from gaps in saved positions. Missing or unreliable GPS samples can leave disconnected sections. Distance includes measured sections only, so it may be shorter than the journey. Map It never fills in an unknown road or path. Time excludes manual pauses but includes stops while recording.

Settings → Export recordings creates a complete Map It archive in Files. Import recordings merges an archive with saved history and reports duplicates or conflicts. Keep an independent export. To use iCloud, enable Sync with iCloud and leave Map It open until it reports Up to date. On another iPhone using the same Apple Account, enable sync to restore completed uploads.

Open recording details and tap Share route. Choose how much to hide near the start and finish; this also removes later returns to those areas. GPX works with many mapping tools. Include GPS timestamps only if you want to share them. Preview the map image before sending it. Hiding endpoints can remove the whole route if it is short; reduce the hidden distance if needed. Your original stays unchanged.

Display units controls distance, speed, splits and announcements. Announce every mile/km speaks at whole-unit boundaries. Voice & speech lets you select available Premium English voices and preview them. iPhone media volume and audio output affect playback. Optional steps also control step announcements.

Keep the app installed if you need its local recordings. Export an archive before reinstalling. For GPS problems, check location permission, Precise Location and outdoor reception. For sync problems, check iCloud sign-in, available storage and the status in Settings. In a support request, include your iPhone model, iOS version, Map It version and the steps that caused the issue. Do not include passwords or sensitive route files unless needed.
